US: Delaware enacts family trust company law

 
Delaware's Senate Bill 327 was signed last month, authorising the formation of a new type of private trust company serving a single high-net-worth family and its related trusts, entities and charities. Trust companies founded under the new act can only serve family members descended from a single designated family member, but benefit from lower capital requirements (USD375,000), reduced operational requirements and greater privacy than other such companies. No public notice or hearing is required to form the company, and information about its owners, managers, officers, employees, capital contributions, business affiliations and financial or personal records are treated as confidential to the State Bank Commissioner.
