CAYMAN ISLANDS: Beneficial ownership transparency legislation enacted

The Cayman Islands' Beneficial Ownership Transparency (Amendment) Bill 2024 was enacted on 27 December 2024, as the parliament's last act before being adjourned until 31 January 2025. The Bill enables certain journalists, academics, researchers, non-profits and other businesses to access beneficial ownership information about companies registered in the Cayman Islands if they have a proven legitimate purpose that 'aligns with combating money laundering, related crimes or terrorism financing'.
